SCWC’s “WaterNext” Campaign Kicks Off At Critical Time
This month SCWC kicked CA WaterFix support efforts into high gear with the launch of its education and outreach program, WaterNext. The program, which includes digital advertising, outreach and social media, is driven by the fundamental fact that Southern Californians have the right to expect a clean, reliable water supply not just for today but for generations to come.
“Now is the time to demonstrate the strong momentum behind CA WaterFix to our decision-makers and regional stakeholders,” said Charles Wilson, executive director for Southern California Water Committee. “Bottom-line, water is essential to our physical health and well-being. Water may be everywhere, but we should never take it for granted. SCWC is doubling down on support in Southern California.”

Just Around The Corner: Annual Stormwater Workshop
Save the Date! October 11, 2017 @ Metropolitan Water District
SCWC’s Annual Stormwater Workshop creates a forum for cities, water agencies, regulators and regional leaders to discuss the potential of stormwater capture projects and integrated regional water management to expand local water supplies and help reduce reliance on imported water during the state’s ongoing drought cycles.
ICYMI: Sites Reservoir, a water-storage plan worth funding
California needs flexible and reliable solutions to address its water woes, especially in light of today’s climate realities and our recurring drought cycles. After a crushing five-year drought, this past winter was the wettest in 122 years, but California lost the opportunity to capture and store billions of gallons of surplus water due to restrictions on our delivery system and lack of storage options.
That’s why SCWC supports the Sites Reservoir Project, and is committed to lending its voice as consideration of the project’s application for Proposition 1 funding approaches.
And the Los Angeles Daily News is in agreement, per a recent editorial, “Water stored in Sites in wet years would be available in dry years, or in the late summer and fall, to improve salmon runs, replenish the San Joaquin-Sacramento River Delta and contribute flows to improve water quality.”
