The Southern California Water Coalition’s Renewed: The Journey to Safe Drinking Water campaign earned multiple honors at the 62nd Annual PRism Awards, including recognition as one of just three finalists for the competition’s prestigious Best in Show award. The campaign also received four PRism Awards and two Awards of Excellence for its innovative public education efforts around potable reuse.
Launched in March 2026, Renewed: The Journey to Safe Drinking Water centered on a five-minute animated explainer video designed to educate Californians about potable reuse, an important water supply solution for the future. The campaign also featured influencer-created social media reels, partner organization amplification, and paid digital advertising to address common misconceptions about potable reuse and counter the persistent “toilet-to-tap” myth.
Together, these efforts generated approximately 2 million video views and helped expand public understanding of how advanced water purification technologies create safe, reliable drinking water.
The campaign earned top recognition across several highly competitive categories:
- PRism Awards
- Influencer Marketing Program
- Social Media Program
- Video Programs, Associations/Education
- Video Programs, Not-For-Profit
- Award of Excellence
- Public Service Strategic Campaign, Associations/Education
- Public Service Strategic Campaign, Not-For-Profit
In addition to its category wins, SCWC’s Influencer Marketing Program was selected as one of only three finalists for the coveted Best in Show award, the competition’s highest honor. Although we did not earn the top award, SCWC was honored to be recognized among the year’s best public relations and communications programs.
Presented annually by PRSA-LA, the PRism Awards recognize outstanding work from public relations professionals, agencies, corporations, government organizations, nonprofits, and independent practitioners across the Greater Los Angeles region.
This year’s awards celebrated communications professionals who tell impactful stories, navigate complex challenges, protect organizational reputations, and advance purpose-driven public engagement. The honors reflect the innovation, creativity, and strategic thinking that continue to define excellence in the communications industry.
For SCWC, the recognition underscores the power of clear, engaging public outreach to build understanding and support for critical water infrastructure and water reliability solutions.
