A Call to Action from California’s Water, Business, Labor, Local Government, and Community Leaders

Water Urgency Declaration

Southern California Water Coalition’s Water Urgency Roundtable on October 9, 2026, brought together 75 leaders representing water agencies, elected offices, public works departments, labor organizations, business groups, agriculture, utilities, environmental organizations, academia, and the infrastructure sector from across Southern California.

The event demonstrated that water reliability is not just a water industry issue, but one that spans government, jobs, economic development, energy, agriculture, and environmental stewardship.
Infographic titled “Water Urgency Declaration” from the Southern California Water Coalition, dated October 9, 2026. The graphic states that 60% of Southern California’s water resources are uncertain, creating risks to economic growth, environmental sustainability, and public health. It outlines five goals: advancing water infrastructure investments, supporting efficient water infrastructure delivery while protecting the environment, expanding diversified water supplies, maintaining water affordability, and promoting innovation and climate resilience. A vision statement calls for California water priorities to be realized through 2075. Supporting pathways include solution sets, communication and engagement, and performance management. The lower half features a signature page and several photos from a water policy roundtable, showing attendees participating in discussions, presentations, networking, and signing the declaration.
