Broad Coalition Agrees California Must Move Faster on Water Infrastructure
October 22, 2026

The Southern California Water Coalition’s October 9 Water Urgency Roundtable brought together more than 70 diverse organizations and interests around a shared recognition: California must move faster to protect, modernize, and expand the water infrastructure and systems needed for a changing environment.

The invitation-only roundtable event took place on Friday, October 9, 2026 at Los Angeles County Public Works headquarters in Alhambra, California. The aim of the event was to craft a clear message to the California Legislature and the Governor’s Administration ahead of the November’s election. November 2026 brings a new Governor and a new State Legislature, creating a new opportunity to deliver a unified message about what California needs to ensure a resilient water future.

The declaration, signed by all attendees, noted that the need was that 60% of Southern California’s water resources are uncertain. This uncertainty limits economic growth, minimizes environmental sustainability and jeopardizes public health. The vision of the group is that California water priorities are realized through 2075.
