New Magazine Highlights O.C. Water Leadership

March 24, 2021

As a part of the SCWC’s commitment to regional water sustainability and education, we have added a new local publication to our many community outreach efforts. As a part of a partnership with the publishers of California Water Orange County, the SCWC has released an issue of the magazine filled with the latest news and topics in regional water. Among the features of the edition is a piece on the retirement of Metropolitan Water District General Manager Jeffrey Kightlinger, updates on Orange County Water District’s efforts to protect Orange County’s water supply, the Santa Margarita Water District’s project proposal for a new drinking water filtration plant, and much more.

“In preparing this issue, I have been amazed by the forward-thinking, all-of-the-above approach taken by so many community and water leaders in Orange County,” said SCWC Executive Director Charley Wilson. “They understand that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to our water supply issues. We must consider all together.”

That’s just what this new magazine does. Its pages present current work by local water agencies and community groups that demonstrates how various efforts and solutions are working together for the region’s good. The SCWC’s partnership with the publishers of California Water Orange County has resulted in a unique publication that showcases exclusive interviews with local water leaders, updates on water resiliency projects in Orange County, and regional stories of water agency work together in the same place.

The online publication is currently available. The Orange County Register delivered a paper edition to all of its subscribers on March 28, 2021.
